I remember going to my aunt’s baby shower as a child and seeing her open a character-themed diaper bag. Even then, I knew that was not what I would want to carry around. Thankfully, diaper bags have come a long way since the 1980s. The Skip Hop Duo Double Diaper Bag is my top recommendation for the best diaper bag for twins. It is large, cute, and easily clips to your stroller.
Best Diaper Bags for Twins
Both the Skip Hop Diaper Bag and the ALLCAMP Zebra Diaper Bag are great bags for twins, although the Skip Hop Diaper Bag is able to attach to a double side-by-side stroller, making it a great choice for parents of twins.
Skip Hop Diaper Bag
I love the Skip Hop brand for its mid-range prices, durability, large size, and cute designs. The Skip Hop Weekender Duo Signature Diaper Bag is the perfect choice for parents that are expecting twins. Plus, the extra-wide bag is designed to attach to a double side-by-side stroller.
Another great benefit of this diaper bag is that the main compartment zips shut. This is a big bonus if you want to put your wallet in your diaper bag and skip a purse. Especially when I traveled with my babies, it was key that the main compartment zipped so that all my stuff didn’t fall out if the bag tipped over.

- Large main compartment with several interior pockets
- Front pockets for easy access
- Main compartment has a drawbridge/expanding design
- Attaches to double side-by-side stroller
- Can be worn as a messenger bag or tote

ALLCAMP Multi-Functional Diaper Bag
My best all-around runner up is the ALLCAMP Multi-Functional Diaper Bag. Although you can choose from two different colors, I think the zebra pattern is versatile and fashionable, which is what you need if you have twins that are different genders. What I love about the ALLCAMP bag is that this diaper bag is lightweight but large. It can work as a backpack, a tote, or a messenger bag. It also has a zip closure, is waterproof, and is even made with durable materials that will stand the test of time.

- Large main compartment with organizing pockets
- Insulated bottle pockets
- External pockets for mom’s stuff
- Three ways to carry
- Waterproof fabric is machine washable!

Best Backpack Twin Diaper Bag
While the Bag Nation Diaper Bag Backpack and Large Capacity Diaper Bag Backpack by Bably Baby are very similar in many ways, the Big Nation Backpack has 3 insulated bottle holders which is a bonus when you need to take several bottles on the go. `
Bag Nation Diaper Bag Backpack
The Bag Nation Diaper Bag Backpack is very similar to the Bably Baby backpack. I prefer the Bably Baby backpack for twins because of the insulated three-bottle pocket. Otherwise, these two backpacks are almost identical in features.
The Bag Nation Backpack has easy-to-use stroller straps to conveniently attached the backpack to a stroller. The backpack comes in two unisex color choices: black or gray. Overall, this is a great option for families with twins. It is roomy, has lots of features, and works for mom or dad.

The HaloVa Large Capacity Diaper Bag is a great budget option for parents of twins. I like the variety of colors available and a large number of storage options. Like the Bably Baby Backpack, the HaloVa offers three bottle pockets.
The HaloVa features a bottom zip closure compartment for separate storage. It also has a wide mouth opening for the main compartment that allows you to easily locate items. While this diaper bag isn’t as fancy as some of the higher-priced items, it is functional and large for twins.

I love the style and usability of the Columbia Summit Rush Backpack Diaper Bag. It has all the look and durability of a killer backpacking backpack. This diaper bag is perfect for dads with twins because of the wide mouth opening to the large interior that’s full of pockets. Also, the backpack style will allow dad to chase after busy toddlers without the diaper bag getting in the way.
I love that the Columbia diaper bag looks like any other outdoor backpack, but it still has all the compartments needed for your baby’s gear like an insulated bottle pocket with room for 2 bottles, and a padded changing pad.

Buying Guide
When shopping for a twin diaper bag consider the fact that you will need additional space for two babies. Babies need a lot of gear when on the go. Before you purchase your diaper bag think about what matters most to you. If you are a fashionista, style might be the main criteria. However, if having twins is squeezing your wallet, the budget may be the deciding factor.
Consider these criteria when selecting your twin diaper bag:
- How easy is the diaper bag to carry?
- Does it have a stroller attachment?
- Is it large enough?
- Will it keep my gear organized?
- What is the quality?
- Who will use the diaper bag?
- Do I like the style?
FAQs – Diaper Bag for Twins
What are must-haves for twins?
- Emotional and practical support (for mom)
- Double stroller
- Twin baby carrier
- Big, organized diaper bag, preferably a hands-free backpack
- Twin travel crib or small pack-n-play for each baby
- Twin nursing pillow (if nursing)
- Twin feeder
I’m having twins. How do I prepare myself?
- See your obstetrician on schedule.
- Be aware that your pregnancy risk and recovery may be greater with twins.
- Eat small, healthy meals all day long. Don’t neglect carbohydrates, fats, or proteins.
- Rest as often as possible.
- Don’t do too much long-term planning. Scheduling and routine are very important for moms of
twins or triplets, and you won’t want to be too ambitious while the children are young. - Select (and meet) your pediatrician before the babies come.
- Purchase minimal equipment and supplies before the babies come.
- Enlist ongoing postpartum support before the babies come.
- Seek out moms-of-twins support groups and services before the babies come.
What will I do differently with twins?
For the first few months with twins, sleep will be the priority. You will need to enlist more support in the way of housekeeping, cooking, baby care, childcare (for any older children), etc. For the first two years at least, you will do less of everything except baby care. Routine and schedule will be critical.
Is it safe for newborn twins to sleep in the same crib?
It’s safest to put the two infants in separate beds. Twins are often born prematurely or at low birthweight and may therefore be at higher risk for SIDS. As we do not put pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals (or anything that might possibly cause suffocation) in a crib, perhaps it is best also not to have a brother or sister in the crib. If you do choose to put the two babies in one crib, sleep in the room with them, swaddle them, and place them on their backs.
What will I need when my twins come home?
Minimally, for the first few days.
- Two car seats
- Two cribs (or porta-cribs or travel cribs) and any necessary bedding, including a waterproof barrier to protect the mattress
- Swaddling blankets or wraps (four to eight)
- Infant washcloths and towels (four sets)
- Bottles (unless you will be breastfeeding exclusively)
- At least three bibs and burp cloths per baby
- Changing pad
- Diaper pail?
- Infant tub
- Clothing (per baby)
- Five onesies
- Five one-piece sleepers
- Five pairs of socks
- Baby monitor(s)?
- Humidifier
- Thermometer
- Baby carrier(s)?
- Breast pump?
- Nursing pillow?
- Formula?
- Diaper bag
- 300 newborn diapers
- Six boxes of wipes
If you have time and space, though, think longer term. Peruse a more complete list of baby needs for twins, and fulfill as much of the list as you reasonably can before the twins arrive.
Do I need two diaper bags?
No. It’s difficult enough to manage twins with one diaper bag — don’t complicate matters by carrying two. It doesn’t even have to be a diaper bag. Any bag that will store and organize your supplies will do. It can be helpful, too (except when you will be turning the diaper bag over to another caregiver) to dispense with your purse and carry your phone, keys, and cards in the same bag that contains your diapering supplies.
