Clarks Women’s May Marigold Loafers are adorable and just right for work with a little lift from a wide heel. Trust me these are not your granny’s dress shoes, but they will keep you comfortable like your granny’s orthopedic shoes.

What I Love

Price: With quality comes with a price but this price is well worth it and not too high.
Comfort: Made of leather with tons of cushion and ortholite footbed, your feet will thank you during long hours on the job as you receive compliments from co-workers.
Appearance: With some well-placed pleats and a beautiful glossy finish, you will love pairing these elegant wedges with pants or a dress. Choose from black, dark gray, or brown.
Support:
Clarks is code for comfort and support and these wide low heels will not let you down with arch support either!
Size:
The fit is true to size in these classy maternity shoes.

What I Do Not Love

Traction: The traction is not going to keep you upright on a rainy day but who wears leather in the rain anyway?
Quality: The heel may wear out before you are cradling a baby in your arms and they may scuff easily.

Jambu Women’s Sycamore Boot

Jambu Women's Sycamore Snow Boot, Brown, 7 M US

Jambu’s Women’s Sycamore Boots are not only stylish but the epitome of comfort and warmth for winter. For mama-to-bes in the colder states, these boots will become your new best friends.

What I Love

Price: The price depends on size and color but can be quite affordable.
Comfort:
A light platform will keep your sensitive feet away from the cold ground and soft fabric and faux fur coupled with memory foam will cushion your foot even in a blizzard.
Appearance:
You will be the envy of all your friends with the stylish pull-on boots with beautiful seams and size adjusters. Pick from six neutral colors.
Support: Memory foam and rubber soles for traction plus these short boots will provide plenty of support for long winter days.
Size: The company recommends ordering a size up which is the norm for boots especially if you want to wear socks.

What I Do Not Love

Arch: Ladies with high arches may want to find a different pair of boots.
Ice: Use these pretty boots for walking but avoid ice, of course, ice usually requires chains.

Dr. Scholl’s Ruler Ankle Boot

Ankle boots like the Dr. Scholl’s Ruler Ankle Boot is a staple for any season. In winter with jeans and a sweater or in summer with a flowy sundress, you’ll be right on-trend with these soft booties.

What I Love

Comfort: These Dr. Scholl’s shoes have a Be Energized insole that will absorb pressure for feet that feel less tired at the end of the day. There’s also an inside gore that helps you slip these shoes on and off easily while still maintaining some flexibility.
Style: I already mentioned how versatile these are, but let’s just come out and say how cute they are. The stacked 1-inch heel and cute “be you” embossed on the heel is just amazing. And the heel is not solid wood, so it makes walking easier.
Roomy: Some moms get swelling in their feet and some get it in their ankles. Some of us are lucky enough to get both! The way this shoe is cut, your feet and ankles will have plenty of space to breathe without getting cut into or smashed.

What I Do Not Love

Material: Okay, so the microfiber is cute, but it’s not waterproof unless you spray it with the special stuff and it can stain more easily.
Runs Large: Many people report that this shoe runs big. That could really help you out during pregnancy, but otherwise, it might result in some blisters if you order too big.

Best Slip-On Shoes for Pregnancy

Slip-on’s are a must for a pregnant woman with aching and swollen feet.  The VIONIC Women’s Tide Li, the Sanuk Yoga Sling 2, and the Birkenstock Arizona are comfortable, open toe sandals, while the Jessica Simpson Comfy Faux Fur Slippers and the Spenco Siesta Slide are cozy, closed toed shoes.  The ability to bend to paint your toes may help you choose between these cute slip-on’s.

Vionic Women’s Tide Li sandals are mid-priced and come in a variety of boring and festive colors to meet any of your wardrobe options. This adorable and uncomplicated sandal will cradle your foot for long walks on the beach or a trip to the mall.

What I Love

Comfort: Your new favorite sandals are proven to alleviate heel pain because of Orthaheel Technology meant for people with plantar fasciitis. Bonus, they are lightweight, flexible, and absorb shock, and trust me you will want to alleviate all the extra weight you are carrying from your feet!
Appearance: Uncomplicated and ready for fun, these thong sandals are stylish enough for an outing but simple enough for walking the dog. Definitely some cute shoes for swollen feet!
Support:  Made of leather, neoprene, and rubber will support your stressed-out soles shaped to cradle your heels and ankles.

What I Do Not Love

Price: These maternity shoes will not break the bank but could be less expensive.
Quality: Vionic sandals may only last the length of your pregnancy.

Jessica Simpson Comfy Faux Fur Slipper

What would a pregnancy shoe list be without some amazing slippers? Because let’s be honest: if you are at home, you probably won’t be wearing any shoes at all! The Jessica Simpson Comfy Faux Fur Slippers feel just as good as they look, perfect after a long day on your feet.

What I Love

Easy: What could be better for pregnant feet than big, fluffy slippers that you can just slide your feet right into? Nothing. I repeat, nothing.
Style: I like that these have the suede-look outers instead of being fluffy all over. That, combined with the durable rubber sole with good traction, means that you don’t have to feel bad about wearing these on a late-night grocery run.
Soft: Not only is the fluffy (but fake) fur crazy soft on your skin, but there is a memory foam insole to ensure that each and every step is soft, too.

What I Do Not Love

Fur: I told you I love how soft the fur is. But what I don’t like is how dirty the fur gets. After some time, it gets matted and gross-looking. This happens much more quickly if they get wet, like after a shower or in the rain or if you have sweaty feet.

Sanuk Yoga Sling 2

When you are pregnant, your body runs a little warmer than normal. That’s why it’s okay to put your pregnant feet in sandals even if it’s only 50 degrees outside. The Sanuk Yoga Sling 2 sandals are perfect for your pregnant piggies.

What I Love

Comfort: These are called the Yoga Sling sandal because the bottom of the shoe is made from yoga mats. Yup, the footbed is a yoga mat with a sealed edge. Plus, the material is made from a soft and silky yoga sling fabric. Great sandals for plantar fasciitis.
Style: These have that trendy-yet-bohemian look that is always in style. And with color choices from neutrals to tie-dye to leopard, there’s a way to let your personality shine.
Eco-Friendly: The outsole features straw and partially-recycled EVA. It’s always nice to be able to wear a brand that cares!

What I Do Not Love

Durability: The only complaint with these shoes is that they do not last for a terribly long time. While the yoga mat material is comfy, it does compress and tear over time.

Spenco Women’s Siesta Slide

Spenco Women's Siesta Slide Mule, Charcoal Grey, 9 M US

Spenco’s Women’s Siesta Slide Mules may look like an old man shoe but in all the best ways, like when you steal your man’s shirt. These neutral shoes will slide onto your feet and into your heart as they ease the discomfort your feet experience during pregnancy.

What I Love

Price: This neutral shoe’s price depends on your size and the color you pick but should leave plenty of room in the budget for all the items you need for your new baby.
Comfort: Spenco shaped these slide-on mules for ladies with metatarsal issues so the top of the foot could be comfortable and off the ground. The rest of your foot will be cushioned as well with deep heeling cushions. These are cute shoes for swollen feet.
Appearance: Weathered canvas and vibrant colors give this mule a pleasant appearance to keep your casual days festive and cozy.
Support: With all the support for the tops, bottoms, and arches of your feet these maternity shoes will support you no matter where you go. The inside is made of cork for shock absorption. The dream is here ladies!
Air Flow: The fabric outer shell will allow your feet to breathe as will the big opening in the back!

What I Do Not Love

Size: No half sizes, but otherwise true to size.
Sole: The soles are not for everyone and may not be as plush as desired.

Birkenstock Arizona Sandals

Hot, sweaty feet? Check. Swollen feet? Check. Can’t see your feet? Check. Can’t reach your feet? Check. Well then, do I have the shoe for you! You will love Birkenstock Arizona Sandals. These once-granola and -kinda-ugly sandals have found redemption with today’s culture! You see knockoffs everywhere, but let me tell you, nothing beats the original shaped cork footbed of Birkenstocks.

What I Love

Comfort: Don’t knock ’em until you’ve tried them. With an anatomical footbed and suede lining, they are ridiculously comfortable!
Quality: These shoes aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for! They are well-made quality materials, and the company has been around since 1774.
Adjustable: The two big buckles are fully adjustable, so you can expand them as your feet expand.

What I Do Not Love

Sizing: The sizing gets a little weird, so make sure you follow the size chart exactly. But once you buy your correct size, you are golden!
Price: These are pricey sandals, but I promise you, they are worth it!

Skechers Women’s You Sneaker is a sneaker that feels like a sock, moves like a ball, and offers full traction is the perfect shoe for someone walking for two. The upper allows full breathability to avoid smelly feet you cannot reach.

Pair these with a cute maternity t-shirt and you’ll be comfy and stylish. Like a mom boss.

What I Love

Price: For comfy feet, this price is under a hundred and well worth the price.
Traction: The outsole comes with multi-directional traction means that no matter what way you move you will be comfortable.
Comfort: The top is made of soft mesh fabric with a sock-like knit fabric. Shoe’s that feel like socks? Yes, Please!
Appearance: Neutral colors with a bit of pizzazz are perfect to match all your casual outfits.
Ease: Despite the appearance of shoelaces, these are slip-on maternity shoes. Stick your feet in and wiggle around to get the heel straight.
Air Flow: The knit fabric breathes so you do not have to worry about smelly feet, which is great since most pregnant women have super noses and can smell plenty of other feet.

What I Do Not Love

Support: Sadly, this otherwise perfect shoe doesn’t offer a lot of arch support but a couple of inserts can fix this little problem.
Size: You may have to order a half size up from your normal size normally and maybe a size up for pregnancy.

Best Flats for Pregnancy

Pregnancy doesn’t stop you from working or going out on the town.  The Vionic Women’s Spark Minna is a dressier ballet flat option for those special events, and in contrast, the UGG Women’s Milana Loafer and TOMS Women’s Alpargata  Sneaker are more casual flats for your activities.

Vionic’s Women’s Spark Minna Ballet Flats will take you to work, out on the town, and keep your toes wiggling happily all the way home. Wrapped in leather these shoes will contour to your unique shape and pamper your feet.

What I Love

Comfort: Wrapping your foot in leather with elastic around the top to keep them in place is the best way to ensure stay-ability and all-day comfort. Great for mom-to-be’s with plantar fasciitis, too.
Appearance: Matte sides and shiny tips, these adorable shoes will add style to any outfit and without heels!
Support:  Built-in arch support and rubber soles will keep your feet relaxed for hours.
Size: Buy your size or a size up if your feet gained a size, but normally these flats fit true to size.
Traction: These flats are great for walking around the mall and work.

What I Do Not Love

Price: Thankfully the shoes will not hurt your feet as the price probably will. The price varies by color and size so you might get lucky.
Quality: These ballet flats are wildly comfortable but have not proved to be super durable. Maybe avoid going into the woods with them.

Ugg Milana Loafer Flat

Ugg Milana Loafer Flats are the from the brand you know and love for boots but with spectacular shoes to keep your feet happy while carrying your precious bundle. These cute shoes come in multiple colors and can dress up or dress down.

What I Love

Price: The price is decent especially for the brand!
Comfort: Leather shoes may take a little breaking in but the rubber soles and soft foam footbed will keep you relaxed and ready to rock.
Appearance: Who does not love a cute pair of loafers? Pair these simple sleek shoes with jeans or to work in a suit.
Support: Three layers of foam, rubber, and leather, your feet will be so supported they may become spoiled.

What I Do Not Love

Size: These Uggs run small and narrow. By a size up and hope for the best.
Air Flow: Leather does not breathe super well but they did offer some perforation on top to try and help keep feet dry.
Traction: There is traction but only in two spots, do not go hiking in these loafers.

TOMS Alpargata Oxford

TOMS Classic Alpargata Slip-Ons are a go-to shoe for many moms during and after pregnancy. No other shoe quite says “I’m a mom who loves comfort and ease, but I’m still young and trendy” quite like a TOMS shoe can.

What I Love

Comfort: After these shoes get broken in (see below), they are unbeatable in comfort. They’ll conform to your foot and the rubber sole is bouncy and supportive. Preggo moms will appreciate the elastic on top of the foot to allow for some extra stretch.
Appearance: These TOMS have a bit thicker sole than the classic version, but that equates to more support for pregnant feet and joints. The colors range from bright to neutral, so you can match any outfit! Dressed up or down, TOMS always look in style.
Sizes: While TOMS do tend to fit on the narrow side, they can work for almost any foot. Just order up a half size if your feet run wide. The good news is that these shoes are slimming on swollen feet!

What I Do Not Love

Break-In: TOMS shoes require a breaking-in period. When you buy them, they might feet a little snug, but they’ll stretch over time. The bad news here is that your pregnant feet will stretch the shoes out… a lot. They might be too big once your feet shrink back down.
Price: These shoes are a little expensive considering that they are just some canvas and rubber that you slip on. You are paying to get a big brand name.

Guide to Selecting Shoes for Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be uncomfortable but your feet do not have to be. By searching for comfort and not exclusively for style, you can help make those nine months a little more enjoyable.

Slip-On

Slip-on maternity shoes may not be as fashionable as heels or shoes with buckles but they will give you the advantage of putting your shoes on without help through the entire pregnancy. At some point, seeing your feet will become a circus act, and slip-on shoes will be your new bestie!

Traction

Your new baby bump will put you at a disadvantage balance-wise, which is why shoes with terrific traction are a must to keep you from falling and to keep your bump safe too!

Comfort

Now more than ever is the time to choose comfort over fashion. Memory foam is like a little mattress for your feet for all-day long wear. Also look for rubber soles for shock absorption. Flat shoes may be cheap and easy to find but will not cradle your foot. By the end of the day, you will wish you had spent more money on maternity shoes shaped to your foot.

Getting a pair of pregnancy compression socks will make your shoes feel even more comfortable.

Appearance

Style is important but should take a backseat to comfort. If this is your first pregnancy you are not yet aware of how important keeping your feet cozy will be during those long nine months. Your feet hold up not just your body but the new life growing inside of you as well. That’s a lot of work, they deserve soothing shoes.

Support

Shoes shaped to your foot will cradle your foot will keep your feet not just comfortable but will help prevent back pain as well, as will arch support. Rubber soles will help with shock absorption for more support. Pointy toes can cause ingrown toenails so opt for maternity shoes with rounded toes.

Air Flow

Airflow will help with breathability for your feet to prevent sweating and discomfort.

FAQs – Pregnancy Shoes

Can I wear heels during my pregnancy?

You can but do not wear them for long periods as the stress on your feet can cause back problems and increase swelling.

Can’t I just wear all the shoes I own during pregnancy?

Some women can wear all the shoes they already own while sporting a baby bump. Other women find their feet grow or widen or just need more comfortable shoes than their normal foot attire.

Can I wear strappy shoes during pregnancy?

Strappy shoes are perfectly fine during pregnancy but keep two things in mind. First, you may not be able to reach the straps to strap them by the end of the pregnancy. Second, feet tend to swell with a baby on board and straps may be uncomfortable or just not work.

If my feet grow can I just get some cheap shoes in a bigger size?

Buying cheap shoes is always an option on a budget, but try to find maternity shoes that offer support and comfort. Flat shoes may be inexpensive but in the long run, you will pay with back pain and throbbing feet.

Should I buy bigger shoes as soon as I know I am pregnant?

No, not everyone’s feet grow. Just keep a pair of flip-flops around in case you need to run to the store for a larger size. Go buy some pregnancy vitamins and wait to see if your feet grow.

Can I still wear sneakers for exercise?

Yes! Sneakers may be harder to tie by the end of the pregnancy but are still built for exercise and it’s recommended that pregnant women work out at least 30 minutes a day for their health and for the baby.
