I have found that this baby monitor really does have great video and has really great additional features, like the ability to add my husband as another user so that he can use it on his phone too. Yes, it does totally depend on WiFi. I know that our WiFi signal goes on the fritz occasionally and as a result, the app wouldn’t connect, or the camera wouldn’t work, or we’d have some other technological difficulty.

The Babysense Video Baby Monitor comes with 2 cameras that are already paired. You can buy extra cameras and have up to 4 cameras paired with one parent unit.
As for viewing baby, you have a clear camera picture with 720p. There is 2x digital zoom for seeing what baby is really up to and checking to see if they are breathing (every parent does it!). There is also a digital pan and tilt. And like most current video baby monitors, it has IR night vision. That means that light sensors on the camera lens detect when lighting levels are low and adjust the video accordingly.
The other fun features are that the camera can play lullabies and it can monitor the temperature. Those are both pretty standard these days, but they’re still great to have, especially the remote-operated polyphonic lullabies.
The only other thing to brag on with this camera is the included wall mounts. It can be mounted at nearly any angle to give it the right view whether on the dresser, the wall, or the ceiling.
It works via 2.4GHz FHSS technology, which is a secure digital transmission. This equals higher video and audio quality, as well as more security.

This means that whether you are at mid-range, far away, or anywhere in between, you can get the perfect view of your baby.
The camera also features pan, tilt, and zoom functions. It can move 270 degrees from side to side, or 120 degrees up or down. It can zoom in, even without the special zoom lens. These movements are quiet and discreet and are controlled by the monitor.
The camera features built-in LED lights that helped it to have invisible infrared night vision. That means that you’ll get real-time, streamed video, even in the middle of the night.
Finally, the camera has a built-in speaker so that you can have a 2-way talking system. You hear baby cry on the monitor, and you can press a button and speak to the baby through the camera.

It has a rechargeable long-life battery. And you don’t have to buy an extra rechargeable battery, it’s already included with the starter system. This battery allows for 10 hours if you’re using the monitor in power-saving mode, or 6 hours with a constant display.
Which leads me to the different modes. There’s one mode called power saving mode, which turns the screen off but keeps audio on. You can choose whether you’d like to turn off the display after 5 minutes, 3 minutes, or all the time. It’s easy and straightforward to do from the menu. Not only does this help your battery life last about 50% longer, but it allows you to have an audio-only monitor if that’s what you’d like.
Once you’ve got your multiple cameras, you can even use this in scan mode. In that mode, the monitor shows each camera for a few seconds and then switches to the next camera. It cycles through the system continually so you can see each camera in your system. This makes it nice for keeping an eye on kids in separate rooms at the same time.

Biggest Complaints
- It has good battery life, but not great battery life. And another common complaint with this system is that it doesn’t properly keep track of the charge. That means that you might be surprised by getting angry beeping noises when your monitor is about to die. Also, the older the system gets, the less charge it holds. This is similar to most electronics, like our cell phones. You’ll just have to figure out your own schedule where you have this thing plugged in for several hours a day.
- The range is better but doesn’t work that great. It’s one thousand feet, sure, but that doesn’t mean that it actually works well at 1,000 feet, especially in an older home with thick walls. And that’s not to mention the fact that interference from your cell phone and thick walls tend to stump the system. - Back to the issue of interference. This system is easily interfered with if you’re too close to a cell phone or other wireless device, like maybe a TV or a gaming system. When this happens, it’ll randomly beep loudly and say out of range, even if you haven’t moved.
- The thermometer thing is great, but I wish it was more accurate. Across-the-board, users find that the thermometer is off by about four or five degrees. That means that you might freak out thinking it’s way too hot in a certain room when it’s not. So just go into this knowing to subtract about 4 degrees from the temperature reading every time you look at it.

Overall, the Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO is a decent baby monitor. It’s about $100 cheaper than a lot of the other comparable baby monitors on the market. It allows you to have up to four cameras, which makes it a great baby monitor for multiple rooms. The overall quality is so-so. The screen is okay and the video is decently clear. It has the potential to have a good range if it weren’t for the fact that the signal is interfered with so easily. Let’s start with the lens of the Motorola Connect40 Wireless Camera System. It’s adjustable so that you can get the right angle for monitoring your kiddo. You can zoom the lens in remotely for better viewing. You can also pan or tilt to anywhere in the room, so there are no blind spots. And at night? The infrared LEDs in the lens sense the lighting conditions and bring you good quality night vision images and video. And the video quality is actually really good for a baby monitor.
There is a speaker and microphone both on the camera. The high-sensitivity microphone picks up on baby’s cries and transmits that back to the parent unit. The speaker has the awesome ability to lullabies, soothing sounds, or your very own voice to baby. You can play lullabies from the monitor and you can also record and control all of these sounds using the compatible Hubble app, which we’ll talk more about below.
There are keyholes on the bottom of the camera to wall mount it if you want a more permanent option. The antenna helps give you the most of the baby monitor’s high range, which is up to 1,000 feet. Indoors, it’s more like 165 feet because of obstacles that lessen that range.
Finally, there is a temperature sensor on the camera. It feeds temp info back to the parent unit so that you can make sure baby’s space is optimally heated or cooled. There’s also a mood light, which is a softly glowing nightlight that can be used in 7 color options and 3 brightness levels.

- The blue LED light on the camera is bright and blinking and it can’t be turned off. That could be enough to set your baby off and keep them from a good night’s sleep.

This camera has a fully functioning pan, tilt, and zoom that can be managed remotely. You can adjust any of the 2, 3, or 4 cameras from the monitor. That means that you can get the best possible view without having to go in and mess with the camera. Because baby senses your presence and WILL wake up.
The cameras have infrared night vision. This is a great technology for baby monitors, as it gives a clear, crisp grayscale image of the baby’s room.

This baby monitor for multiple rooms has a 1,000-foot range which is the highest in its class. This is within an unobstructed range. If the signal has to travel through multiple walls, that long camera range might be diminished quite a bit.
The pan/tilt/zoom is a great feature if you want to look around the room remotely or get a clearer picture of what’s happening. Maybe baby has moved and you need to pan to the side a bit to see him better. Or maybe you can’t tell what he’s doing and zooming in would solve that problem without having to go into the room and possibly disrupt his sleep. Another bonus is that the pan, tilt, and zoom operation is whisper quiet and will not wake a baby.
Another great thing about this monitor is that the cameras are able to be mounted on a multitude of angles – up, down, sideways. Couple that with the pan-tilt-and zoom features and there is truly no scenario in which this camera wouldn’t be able to see what it needs to see.
