Editor’s Note
While the Chicco Bravo LE stroller is no longer made, Chicco has other options available including the Chicco BravoFor2 LE Double Stroller. This is a stroller that has a second seat and bench for a second child to sit or stand on. However, if you are not looking for a stroller for two, you should consider the Chicco Mini Bravo Plus Lightweight Stroller. This stroller is designed to fold quickly and easily with a handle for easy carrying. It offers a smooth ride with swivel wheels, a large storage basket, a detachable child’s tray, a reclining backrest, plus an adjustable canopy. It can accommodate up to 50 lbs so you can use this stroller for many years. As there is a click-in attachment for any Chicco infant car seat, making this a great option for traveling or just on-the-go days. One parent said, “This stroller has everything I was looking for in a stroller.”
This multi-use stroller will make transporting your infant an easy task. With many key features designed to make it all easier for you, this 3-in-1 travel system stroller will impress you with its ease of use and modern design. This stroller is the latest release in the long-trusted Chicco brand.
Chicco unveiled their newest stroller in their well-established brand early this year. The reasonably priced Chicco Bravo LE Stroller is a deluxe and modern three-in-one travel system designed with the needs of busy parents in mind. With the all-inclusive classic grey color, this stroller is perfect for both boys and girls and is well worth the value when considering multiple children. The system will safely hold children from 5lbs to 50lbs which could easily extend the life of this stroller to six years.
It is a bit confusing, but Chicco also sells the Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System, Papyrus which includes the stroller, car seat and car seat base. See our hands-on review of the updated Chicco Trio Travel System here
You’ll find the Chicco Bravo on our top travel system list.
Ratings Not Bad but Few of Them
This is a relatively new stroller so there aren’t as many customer review ratings out there as for many of the older and popular strollers. However, most of the ratings are quite positive and Chicco products are typically well rated overall. Here are some of the numbers:
- 4.7 stars, 27 reviews – Google Shopping
- 4.8 stars, 17 reviews – Toys R Us
- 4.0 stars, 7 reviews – Target
- 4.5 stars, 47 reviews – Diapers dot Com
One Key Feature is the Bravo’s Versatility
The Chicco Bravo LE stroller is an improved design on their line of strollers. This model is meant to act as the ultimate stroller that will provide easy transportation for you and your child as they age from a newborn to a full-fledged toddler. It is advertised as a deluxe three-in-one stroller and travel system, and indeed it is. The stroller frame begins as a car seat carrier for their signature Chicco Key Fit line of infant car seats which are sold separately.
Infant Seat Rear-Facing Only: Instead of lugging around a heavy car seat with a heavy infant in your arms, you can easily attach the seat to the stroller frame. It should be noted that the stroller frame will only install an infant seat rear-facing (toward the parent or pusher). The stroller ages with your child, and once they reach the age of sitting up and have more head control, a recommended age of six months, the stroller frame converts into a conventional seat for your supported sitter with an easily attachable seat.
This system can be used for toddlers and children up to 50 lbs. The Chicco Bravo LE stroller boasts three level of recline for the comfort of your child. Your child can either lay down nearly flat, sit up at an angle, or sit up completely. It does not recline all the way but that shouldn’t be a make or break feature when considering purchasing.
Another neat feature is the handlebar. It is height adjustable for mom, dad, grandma, or whoever, to push the stroller at their own height for maximum comfort. It ranges from a height of 37.1 inches to 42.2 inches to accommodate a variety of heights and arm length which is perfect if you’re tall like me with a much shorter mother-in-law. The Chicco Bravo LE stroller will suit the most basic needs of any busy parent needing to transport their young child with ease.
Parent Friendly Design
This stroller comes with many extras that you need as a parent. The stroller includes a snack tray for your child and one for you as the parent as well. Both un-attach easily to clean and can be left on while being stored. However, the parent tray has two cup holders but they are a bit shallow which can pose a problem for spilling drink contents and could pose a safety risk for the child sitting below – just be aware of it.
Nice tray! The tray does hold a phone and keys easily. The child tray will easily hold a bottle or sippy cup along with a snack for your child. It can be removed to clean and wipe down. The Chicco Bravo LE also has a large retractable canopy to protect your child from the sun and other adverse weather conditions. The canopy has a mesh peak-a-boo opening that can either be opened, or covered, to keep an eye on your child. The canopy also overextends and features a flip out visor extension for extra protection from the sun.
There is a large basket below the child’s seat that is easily accessible (though only from the back) but large enough to hold a large diaper bag and any other necessary items needed while out and about. The seat cushion is removable, reversible, and machine washable which is another good example of Chicco Bravo LE’s ease of use for busy parents and their possibly messy children (like mine).
Easy Storage
A key feature for any stroller is storing the stroller and the ease of putting it away. To put away the Chicco Bravo LE, simply pull up the handle located under the seat and the front wheels will pull themselves in with auto positioning and stand upright on their own. It stores and locks automatically in an upright position. Alternatively, the stroller also unfolds with the one-handed system which can even be done holding your child. The Bravo LE is the only stroller system where I can use one hand to open and close it.
Uhg, Heavy: At 23 pounds, this stroller is heavier than others on the market, possibly making it hard to store and lift per some. Still, the weight isn’t enough to make it a deal breaker. An able-bodied adult shouldn’t have much of a problem lifting the Bravo into their car. However, it is still considered to be lightweight and at 23 pounds, it is manageable. I had no problem with it and neither should anyone who regularly lifts a child.
On the Go
The Chicco Bravo LE is made to handle a variety of terrain and will work well for everyday use. However, this is not a jogging stroller and will not handle well on rough and rocky terrain. This is not a hiking stroller and should not be treated as such. Walking paths, inclines, average gravel, and concrete all handle well. The wheels are sturdy but the shocks are un-adjustable which is why this stroller is not made for hiking or mountainous trails.
Different Opinions on Maneuverability: In some tests, it scored lower in maneuverability and had a difficult making turns because of its size. This is negative because the main purpose of a stroller is to push it around and one would want that to be done easily. However, the Chicco Bravo LE seems to garner difference of opinion between researchers and fellow consumers. Many had no issues with the handling and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Far fewer had some complaints about the handling. I think it is fine.
Converting to Travel System Mode
Chic Design and Value
The charcoal grey color is gender neutral for multiple children and a more subdued look which I really enjoy. The design is more modern and will compliment a parent with any style. The Chicco Bravo LE does only come in the one color that could be off-putting for those wanting gender specific items. The darker color will also hide dirt from everyday wear and tear of being used outdoors.
Latest pricing for the Chicco Bravo LE is here. For all of the extras and thoughtful features, the price is quite reasonable. Compared to similar strollers on the market, this one is a great value and has all necessities, some extras, and what is to be expected of a travel system of this magnitude.
Pros
- Grows with your child and will be useful for a few years
- Folds and unfolds easily with a simple push of a button
- Overextending canopy for shade
- Good value for all features included
Cons
- Only rear-facing infant seat, although the normal stroller position is forward facing
- Scored low points on overall maneuverability
- Stroller doesn’t come in gender specific colors
- Heavier than other strollers
My Overall Recommendation
In the long run, the Chicco Bravo LE Stroller is easy to use and will grow with your baby. Essentially, you will be able to use this stroller with your child until they are five or six which is perfect on vacation or long day trips. The infant seat can only be installed facing toward the parent which shouldn’t be a problem for infants in their first six months of life anyway, which is when they would be in the infant seat. The features were all well thought of with the parent in mind which is appreciated. A parent tray, child snack tray, and large storage area will appeal to all, as well as the overextending canopy and removable seat cushion.
The fact that the storage bin is only accessible from behind isn’t a big deal. It is easily reachable which is what really matters. Before buying it is advised to test drive this stroller for yourself to see if you have any issues with the wheels, maneuverability, and overall travel. A stroller can have the look and all the bells and whistles, but without the ability to be moved easily, what is the point? But if you have no problems with moving the Chicco Bravo LE Stroller system, like many have not, this would be a great, durable, and smart purchase for any parent.
