With the heart of a mother and the training of a nurse, Lauren Rand shares her years of working to improve children’s health and safety to Experienced Mommy readers.
Lauren has been a registered nurse since 2013 and a Certified Pediatric Nurse since 2015. She recently underwent more training, receiving her Master’s of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in nursing education in 2020. Lauren also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling.
Lauren is also a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician — a designation she pursued after her son was born prematurely. Lauren said that even as a nurse, she did not know how to properly use or install a car seat. Today, as a certified CPST, she is able to educate other parents and caregivers on how to keep children safe in vehicles.
As a pediatric nurse, Lauren has worked in multiple settings, including the pediatric psychiatric inpatient and the medical and surgical inpatient units at a children’s hospital, a pediatrician’s office and long-term care for medically complex children.
Lauren is an adjunct clinical instructor for a local nursing school, teaching and training students in their pediatric courses.
When she’s not working, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, reading, working out and watching movies.
Lauren lives in Kentucky with her husband, 4-year-old son and two dogs.
